Where to ski this year?

Winter sports, in particular skiing, are activities that no adrenalin junkie would want to miss out on, and each winter is an opportunity to discover new skiing experiences. Because of the hundreds of ski resorts in Europe, there is often too much choice and we limit ourselves to well known resorts rather than explore new ones. To help you discover new slopes where you will be able to show off your talent, the multi-mode travel search engine, GoEuro has ranked Europe’s Top 100 Resorts. The ranking is based on criteria including price, accessibility and how family-friendly the resort is, there is also a Top 10 for each of these categories.

To ski in Slovenia

Good news, Slovenia appears four times in the ranking! The resorts Vogelm, Kravec, Kranjska Gora and Rogla rank 74th, 79th, 83th and 85th, respectively. If the sheer beauty of the Slovenian Alps in the summer was not already a good enough excuse to visit Slovenia, hitting the slopes in the winter gives even more reason to visit! Vogel, situated 1800 meters above sea level, boasts almost 22km of piste while Kravec’s highest peak tops almost 2000 meters with the resort offering 29 km of slopes.

The Best destinations in Europe

It’s well known that the likes of Italy, France, Austria and Switzerland offer great mountains to ski on. According to the Ski Ranking, Sestriere, the Italian resort comes in first place with 400 km of slopes, followed by Zermat in Switzerland with 360 km. For those heading to France to ski, Alpe Huez covers more than 250km of ski pistes.

Although Slovenian resorts cannot quite compete against these numbers, skiing in the Country should not be overlooked. Home to beautiful scenery and lower prices than other European resorts, Slovenia is an ideal destination for all the family, no matter the season!
