Here's everything I've been explaining to visitors for years, in one guide. ## The Ljubljana–Bled bus: the simple option The bus is direct, frequent, and arrives **in the centre of Bled (Bled Union stop)**, five minutes' walk from the lake. It leaves from Ljubljana's main bus station (right next to the railway station), with a stop at Tivoli. Allow **1 h to 1 h 15 depending on stops**, with departures roughly every 30 minutes during the day, from early morning until the evening. On Sundays and off-season, frequencies drop — check the timetable before you set off. ## The train: two stations at Bled — don't mix them up Here's the classic trap: **neither station is simply called “Bled”**, and they serve different journeys. **Lesce-Bled**, on the main Ljubljana–Jesenice line, has roughly hourly trains (40-55 minutes, around €6-7) — but the station is 4 km from the lake. A local bus covers the gap in about ten minutes; on foot it's a 45-minute walk. **Bled Jezero**, meanwhile, sits above the western shore, **10-15 minutes' walk from the water** — but it's on the [Bohinj railway](https://www.e-slovenie.com/en/articles/bohinj-railway-120-years-scenic-train/), which means changing at Jesenice when coming from Ljubljana (about 1 h 30, around €6.60). Yes, if you're a regular cyclist: about 55 km via Medvode, Kranj and Radovljica, on a mix of cycle paths and quiet roads with reasonable climbing.
