# Julian Alps Card 2026: Bled, Bohinj, Soča & Radovljica Compared

In the Julian Alps, the guest card is not one of those leaflets you forget in a drawer: free buses, free parking, gorges and museums included — in places where parking alone runs €15–20 a day in summer. Since the region's tourist boards joined forces under the “Julian Alps Card” banner, there are four variants: Bled, Bohinj, the Soča Valley and Radovljica. Which one applies to you depends on a single thing: where you sleep. I have lived here since 2004 — here is the honest breakdown: what is genuinely free, what is marketing discount, and which card I would pick for each kind of trip.

## What exactly is the Julian Alps Card?

The Slovenian Julian Alps — the territory around Triglav National Park, a UNESCO biosphere reserve — group four destinations that have unified their guest cards: Bled, Bohinj, the Soča Valley and Radovljica. Each destination issues its own card with its own conditions, but they share one philosophy: get visitors out of their cars and onto the buses and shuttles, which the cards make free. Each card also unlocks a few cross-valley perks — the Soča card opens Mostnica Gorge in Bohinj, the Bled card covers Bohinj's shuttles.

**Three of the four cards are reserved for guests of partner accommodations** (Bled, Bohinj, Radovljica). Only the Soča Valley card can be bought freely, with no accommodation condition attached.

## Bled card: free, digital, and more useful than it looks

If you stay at a partner accommodation of the Bled Tourist Board, the card is **included with your stay** — ask your host and it arrives by e-mail (it only exists in digital form, so keep it on your phone). It is valid for your whole stay, season 15 April – 15 October 2026.

The best of what it offers:

- **All local Bled buses free** — the Pokljuka, lake, countryside and Radovljica lines. With lakeside parking at €3/hour in summer, this is argument number one.
- **One ride up the Straža chairlift** per stay — the postcard view over the lake.

- **The guided tour of Bled** on Fridays at 10 a.m., plus the Javorca memorial church in the Soča Valley.
- Discounts: Bled Castle -10%, the botanical garden -15 to -25%, taxis, bike rentals and activities -10 to -20%.

## Bohinj card: paid — and paid back within two days

In Bohinj the card costs money, but do the maths before judging it. Summer 2026 (season 1 April – 16 November), for guests of partner accommodations staying 2+ nights: **€27 for 3 days, €32 for 5 days, €37 for 10 days**. A reduced **€17 rate rewards visitors arriving without a car** — very much the valley's philosophy. And for every paying adult, **one child up to 14 gets a card free**.

It has the richest content of the four:

- **All Bohinj car parks free** — at €20 a day by the lake in summer, the card pays for itself the first morning.
- **Free valley buses and shuttles**, including up to the mountain pastures and Pokljuka.
- **Savica Waterfall, Mostnica Gorge and the museums** included, along with the Church of St John the Baptist.
- **The panoramic lake boat** — one crossing included.
- Vogel cable car and the Bohinjska Bistrica aquapark at 5–50% off, depending on the service.

In winter the system changes: a **free mobility card** covers the ski buses (Vogel, Soriška planina, Pokljuka), while a premium version (€10–20 by duration) adds sights and discounts. ## Soča Valley card: the only one anyone can buy

This is the system's exception: **no accommodation requirement at all**. The 2026 Soča card has been on sale since 25 April at the valley's tourist information centres (Bovec, Kobarid, Tolmin): **€25 per adult, €15 for ages 7–14, free under 6**, valid **15 days from first use**. It is personal and non-transferable, and each sight can be visited once.

You get **12 free sights in the valley**: the Tolmin Gorges, the Javorca memorial church, the Kozjak waterfall, the Kobarid and Tolmin museums, the Kluže fortress, Dom Trenta and the Juliana Alpine Botanical Garden among them. Add the **summer shuttles of Tolmin, Kobarid and Bovec**, one **return train trip** on the Bohinj railway, and cross-valley perks up north: Mostnica Gorge plus the guided tours of Bled (Fridays) and Radovljica (Tuesdays).

## Radovljica card: the quietest — and the most generous

Radovljica, the small medieval town 7 km from Bled, gives its “Julian Alps Summer Card” to **any guest staying at least 3 nights** in the municipality, from 10 April to 15 November 2026. Free, personal, and surprisingly well stocked: the **town museums included** (the municipal museum with its beekeeping collection, the Šivec House gallery, the Elan ski museum), a **chocolate and mead tasting** at the tourist information centre, summer guided tours (Radovljica on Tuesdays, Kropa on Wednesdays, Kamen Castle on Fridays), the **free summer bus Radovljica–Bled**, Bohinj's shuttles and entry to Mostnica Gorge. Children under 10 share the benefits with their parents.

It makes an excellent budget base for exploring both Bled and Bohinj — quieter and cheaper than sleeping by the lakes.

## A resident's advice: which card for which trip?

- **Family stay around Bled**: book a Bled partner accommodation — or, smarter, 3 nights in Radovljica: two free cards, the bus to the lake included, chocolate for the kids.
- **Bohinj base with a car**: the card is a no-brainer for the parking alone — three days of lakeside parking already cost more than the card.
- **Road trip on the Soča side**: the Soča card is the only one compatible with a nomadic itinerary (campsites, multiple stops) — €25 for 15 days, paid back with just the Tolmin Gorges and the Kobarid museum.
- **Car-free holiday**: Bohinj at €17, Soča shuttles included, free Bled buses — the region is built for it.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is the Julian Alps Card free?

It depends on the variant: the Bled and Radovljica cards come free with your accommodation (minimum 3 nights in Radovljica), the Bohinj card is paid (€27–37 in summer 2026, €17 if you arrive without a car), and the Soča Valley card costs €25 per adult and is freely on sale.

### Where can I buy the Soča Valley card?

At the valley's tourist information centres (Bovec, Kobarid, Tolmin) and from selected partner providers, on sale since 25 April 2026. It is valid for 15 days from first use, until midnight on day 15.

### Does one card work across the whole Julian Alps region?

Partially. Each card is designed first for its own valley, but all include a few cross-valley perks — typically Mostnica Gorge, the guided tours of Bled and Radovljica, and Bohinj's shuttles. If your stay straddles two valleys, pick the card of the one where you sleep the most nights.

### What do the cards offer for children?

They are family-minded: in Bohinj, one child up to 14 gets a free card per paying adult; on the Soča side, the child card (7–14) costs €15 and under-6s don't need one; in Radovljica, under-10s share their parents' benefits; in Bled, children from age 6 get their own free card.

### Is the card worth it for a two-day stay?

In Bled and Radovljica the question doesn't arise: it is free (though Radovljica requires 3 nights). In Bohinj, yes as soon as you park: two days of lakeside parking exceed the €27 of the 3-day card. On the Soča side, €25 for two days makes sense if you chain the Tolmin Gorges, Javorca and the Kobarid museum — otherwise pay entries individually.
